What is behind it?

Last week, I wrote about how God is interested in the heart of a person. Something that moves God is the heart of a man and he continues to work in them. In continuation with last week’s article, this week I am coming up with the topic “What is behind it?”

What is inspiring your song?

I always believe that the way we live our life either produces a sweet sound to the Lord or it is a noise. Our lives can either be a sweet aroma to God or an unpleasant smell. We can either be the instrument in the hands of the heavenly father or an uncontrolled cymbal that is making noise. All this depends on whether we live led by the Holy Spirit or something else is controlling us.

The action was first thought that we chose to work on

IS IT INSPIRED BY SELFISHNESS?

We are familiar with the word “intentions.” This is not any new term to anyone of us. It is natural for us to look for someone’s intentions when they step into our lives. Even if we look at our own lives, everything that we do has an aim, determination, purpose behind it. There is nothing that we do without ambition or an aim.  We do something because we want to achieve something.

The word intention means “a determination to act in a certain way.”

One question that always has convicted me is “What is the intention behind everything I do?” Is it the selfish desire, self-benefits, self-glory or is it done  to expand the kingdom of God and bring glory to our father in heaven?

God created us and called us out of the darkness so that we can bring him glory. God asked us to seek his kingdom first and its righteousness; all other things will be added unto us. It is going to be futile if not inspired by the thought and intentions of bringing glory to God. Everything that does not bring glory to God is always turned to be infertile and futile. God will himself remove everything that is not bringing him glory.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33

For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, like a two-mouthed sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts.

There is not one person who can hide their thoughts from God, for nothing that we do remains a secret, and nothing created is concealed, but everything is exposed and defenseless before his eyes, to whom we must render an account.

Hebrews 4:12,13

Somethings to consider before you do anything:

Why am I doing it?

Recognize the thought-leading you to the action.

Will it glorify God or me?

Is it glorifying me and meeting the desires of my flesh?

Ask God to reveal your heart. (Examine my heart, Lord!)

God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart.
    Examine me through and through;
find out everything that may be hidden within me.
Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.
See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on,
and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way—
the path that brings me back to you.

Psalm 139:23,24

Ask God to clean your heart so that everything you do comes out with pure motives.

If God asks you to stop then don’t do it.

IS IT INSPIRED BY FEELINGS?

We are Spirit, soul, and body. There is always rage between how we feel and the right things. Do we act according to our feelings or according to the knowledge of right and wrong, then do the right thing? Anger, offense, bitterness, hurt, pain, jealousy, etc. try to control our actions but we being children of God are supposed to overcome these emotions and take actions according to the lead of the Holy Spirit. We are called to live by Spirit and not by emotions.

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Romans 8:7

Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Romans 8:14

Ask yourself before taking the action:

Am I doing this because of offense, hurt, pain, or any negative emotion that I have against someone?

Is it Holy Spirit leading me to do this?

What are the consequences of my actions?

IS FEAR INFLUENCING YOU?

It is easy to be influenced by fear when we do not know our God. Fear takes us apart from the will of God but praise is to our God who brings us back to his path time and time again.

Scripture says that:

The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Proverbs 28:1

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

The actions lead by the Spirit of God will always require boldness and courage.

Ask yourself:

Is fear dominating my life?

If yes, conquer it by confronting it. You are bold and courageous. God has given you the spirit of power, love, and sound mind.

Examine every hidden thing that is inspiring your song. I have only mentioned about three hidden things but ask God to reveal everything hidden. Ask God to show you the exact condition of your heart and the consequences of all your actions because God knows it best. It is not led by God if it is not leading to strength, glory to God, and fruitfulness in God.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I pray that you examine my heart and show me everything unpleasant to you. Give me the grace to overcome it and walk in your ways. Forgive me for the times I dishonored you through my actions. I give myself to you. Do what you want to do. I am your Lord. In Jesus name, Amen

Maybe you are reading this and never knew about the Lord who is a compassionate and loving father who discipline and cleanses us; want to give your life to him; Read this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart and forgive my sins. I receive you as my savior who died and was resurrected for me. Come and do what you want to do in my life. I surrender my heart, mind, and soul to you. In Jesus name, Amen.

“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Heb. 13:20-21)
